Recall alerts
New NHTSA safety recalls for the cars you run, checked daily.
Fleetwire checks NHTSA's public recall database every day for the year, make and model of every car in your fleet. When a new recall comes out, you get a text and the details land on that car's Maintenance tab, so you can book the fix before the next trip.

Manufacturers mail recall notices to the registered owner, and that letter can easily sit in a pile or go to an old address. Meanwhile the car keeps going out on trips. Marketplaces can pull a listing for an open recall, and a renter who finds out first won't think much of you. Fleetwire watches for recalls so you don't have to check every car by hand.
There's nothing to connect. If a car has a year, make and model, it's covered. Want to see what's open on a car right now? Try the free recall check.
Enter the VIN and Fleetwire fills in the year, make and model from NHTSA's VIN decoder. You can also type them in.
Each day Fleetwire asks NHTSA about every year, make and model in your fleet and saves any new recall campaigns.
A new recall triggers a text and a dashboard notification. The campaign details show up on the car's Maintenance tab.
Recalls sit with the rest of the car's upkeep, so one screen shows everything a car needs before its next trip.

No. NHTSA publishes recalls by year, make and model, and that's how Fleetwire matches them. A recall can cover only some cars of a model, for example a certain build range, so treat an alert as "this car may be affected." Confirm with the manufacturer or at nhtsa.gov/recalls using the VIN before you book the repair.
Cars, trucks and vans, plus trailers, powersports and golf carts. NHTSA doesn't publish recalls for boats or rental equipment, so those listings aren't checked.
By text message to your account's phone number, plus a notification in your Fleetwire dashboard. You can turn the text off under Settings → Notifications.
No. Fleetwire passes along what the manufacturer and NHTSA publish, and what you do with the car is your call. Most recalls are routine. A few come with a manufacturer advisory not to drive the car, or to park it outside, until it's repaired. Fleetwire flags those clearly, so you can decide whether to block its dates.
In the US, federal law bars rental companies above a certain fleet size from renting out a car with an open safety recall until it's repaired. Marketplaces have their own rules too. Fleetwire gives you the information but isn't legal advice, so check what applies to your business. Our guide to open recalls on rental cars walks through the federal rule, Turo's policy and state car-sharing laws.
